'…Like I saw in your dreams' Mutsuko Okayama Solo Exhibition

An exhibition of post-processed digital photographs and illustrations about girls. Girls are energetic, illogical and beautiful. They often do not make sense. Mu's first exhibition is about girls. She translates women's chaotic nature as a result of the universe's uncertainties. Soft light, organic shapes and strong colours manifest the dreamy, surreal yet powerful life force. Her subjects are all living in Perth. Mu defines the characteristics of each girl as an observation of different realities that make up a parallel universe that causes its uncertainties

'Textural and Colour Exploration' Exhibition

Artists Joyce Hewton (mixed media - acrylics) Micky Choo (mixed media - acrylics) Guest Artist: Bocky Tandiono (photography) This exhibition is the first collaboration between the three artists. Acrylics on canvas end photographic prints.

Jovce Hewton: Creative expression has always been a big part of Joyce's life. Born in Singapore, she studied a year of architecture before pursuing an education in mass communication. Being exposed to the world of mass communication meant being able to dabble in the creative aspects of photojournalism, television journalism, advertising and other subjects. Joyce has worked as an art director of television commercials, as well as account manager and creative copywriter of an advertising firm. When she move to Perth five years ago, Joyce was able to develop her creative skills in another dimension. Using mostly acrylic paints and mediums, Joyce loves creating art that draws attention with its colours and texture. Unlike her previous occupations, Joyce works for no one and enjoys the "no holds barred" freedom that painting gives her. Joyce treats her art-making as an emotional outlet, and hence evey piece of her work is meaningful to her. Joyce is also the owner of an online mixed media art and craft supplies store that promotes artistic expression amongst crafters. Joyce lives with her husband, two children, a dog and two birds.

Micky Tandiono-Choo: Micky is a passionate painting aficionado, having started painting from an early age. With a background in architecture, she brings along with her years of expertise in form, space and order. Her past career as an expatriate architect in Jakarta saw her working as the right-hand person of the late, high-profile San Diego architect, Randy Darlymple. As Project Manager of several resort developments and multi-million dollar residences in Indonesia, she has designed everything from hotels to the nitty-gritty bits like iron-wrought balustrade, mouldings, cornices, etc. Since returning to Perth, Micky has devoted herself to her family, preferring to work on an ad-hoc basis from home and honing her skills in the art and crafts area. Micky is a regular contributor to the Joondalup Council's annual art exhibitions, and has sold her paintings in the process.

'MAKING MUSIC' Exhibition

New paintings by Sean Conway

Sean Conway's work plays with the energy of life, light and colour ? and the movement and music they make together. Abstract ideas about his love of beauty and balance in nature on various levels have been explored and have evolved over forty years of artistic practice. His use of wave forms and 'key lines' reflects the rhythm and order within the seeming chaos of 'worlds within worlds'. Many of the shapes and forms are symbolic of what has been seen, sensed and experienced on different levels of reality. The harmonics of number, form, colour and sound are expressed in many pieces ? in a continual search of finding some balance between our scientific and spiritual consciousness. The work is always about feelings of wonder and joy that resonate, and help colour our lives. An effort to capture those special but transient moments of pleasure and transcendence; simply being in the moment of enjoyment, and having the freedom of spontaneity in expression ? is behind everything he does.

'Liaisons' Exhibition

Prints, drawings and paintings by Aloma Berg, Helen Bodycoat, Adele Discerni.

Three artists explore the elemental relationship of a sense of place.

Adelle Discerni looks at her experience from a recent trip to Shanghai s a city of conflicting extremes. These extremes are represented in the streets, its people and their ideals, and of course its architecture. On one hand the city is a realisation of its romantic, harmonic eastern ideals whilst at the same time contrasted against this idyllic representation are the ever increasing and chaotic technological systems that are fast over taking the city. These photos of shanghai try to capture these differences through a pictorial representation of a society trying to find a balance between two extremes appearing and surviving along side each other in Shanghai's modern landscape.

Helen Bodycoat's 'Kumarina Landscape' works compare the notion of a print in contemporary visual life with that of painting onto canvas with light. The photographic image often records moments of a journey. These point and shoot images depict moments in time, offering glimpses of the landscape around Kumarina. Here the land is seen fleetingly and from a distance, which resonates with the memory of journeys made whilst travelling in a vehicle.

Aloma Berg examines our suburban connection to our decreasing natural flora and our ever increasing capacity to conquer and divide. A focus on the contrast and conflict between the macro and the micro of local environment.
